Arif Hyder Ali is Co-Chair of Crowell & Moring LLP's International Dispute Resolution Practice and has held senior positions at the United Nations Compensation Commission and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center. He has represented private and state parties in commercial and investor-state arbitrations and mediations involving power plants, oil & gas pipeline construction and concession-related matters, tourism projects, project finance and development agreements, patents and trademarks, and information technology. Mr Ali has also represented parties before inter-governmental tribunals and in 2001 received the Order of Bahrain (II) for representing Bahrain in its border dispute with Qatar.
He lectures on arbitration worldwide and is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center (USA) and an Honorary Lecturer at CEPMLP. He has published widely on international arbitration and has two forthcoming books: "The International Arbitration Rule Book: A Practioner's Guide" and "Arbitration in South Asia." A member of several leading arbitral institutions' arbitrator panels, Arif is fluent in English, Spanish, and French and is conversant in Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali.
