Andrew J. McHardy is a native of Aberdeen in Scotland where he attended Kincorth Academy. He graduated B.A. (distinction) from the University of Stirling, Scotland in 1993 and was awarded the Torbrex Prize for graduate achieving highest grades. In 1995 he graduated with an LL.M. in Resources Law and Policy, with specialisation in petroleum law, policy and economics from the CEPMLP. His Masters dissertation titled "The Petroleum Development of the Falkland Islands" was used by some of the first international oil companies to drill there in 1998. Andrew went on to be involved in four of the six wells drilled in that first campaign and relocated to the South Atlantic for their duration.
Andrew is an experienced multidiscipline specialist possessing a broad range of management skills and with over 20 years experience in the Worldwide Oil and Gas Industry. He has extensive knowledge of Project Management, Well Engineering, Permitting, Drilling Contracts, and Petroleum Licensing; and has a proven track record of managing overseas projects in remote areas. He has a track record of setting up and running complete well operations, from licensing support through to the budgeting and drilling of wells, including the tendering, and award of all drilling related contracts. He is also involved in the provision of statutory Well Examination services, required under UK legislation, to oil companies operating onshore and offshore on the UK continental shelf. In 2007 he assembled and managed a multi-discipline team which wrote a echnical report on a catastrophic well event for a major London law firm.
Andrew established Blue Skies Energy Resources Limited in 1996, now a successful consultancy providing well engineering and project management services to the energy industry. In 2008 he established Ola Gorm Limited (Ola Gorm means Blue Oil in the gaelic language) to act as a medium for investment in Conventional and Non Oil and Gas, and Renewable Resources.
Andrew holds memberships of the following professional organisations; Society of Petroleum Engineers, Energy Institute, Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. He is also a member of the Falkland Islands Association and the Lonach Highland and Friendly Society which is world famous for the March of the Highlanders seen each August at their Highland Games held in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire. Andrew has been an Honorary Associate of the CEPMLP since 1996.
