Professor M Sornarajah LL M (Yale), PhD, LL.D (London), studied law at the University of Ceylon, Yale Law School and the University of London. He is presently Professor at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore. He is also a Fellow at the CEPMLP. He is a Solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales.

Prof. Sornarajah was Head of the Law School of the University of Tasmania, Australia. He was Stirling Fellow at the Yale Law School and Visiting Fellow at the Research Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge as well as being Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institut fur Offentliches Auslandisches Recht at Heidelberg, Germany while in addition he was an International Fellow and visiting professor at the Washington College of Law, American University at Washington.

He has been consultant to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on Multilateral Investment Treaties and was consultant to the United Nations Development Programme and the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam. He is the author of  Pursuit of Nationalized Property (Martinus Nijhoff, Holland), International Commercial Arbitration (Longman), Law of International Joint Ventures (Longman), The International Law on Foreign Investment (Cambridge University Press), The Settlement of Foreign Investment Disputes (Kluwer,2000) and several articles on international law, international investment law, criminal law and other areas. He has also been Chief Editor of the Singapore Journal of Legal Studes and was the Founding Editor of the Singapore Journal of International and Comparative Law.
